ABOUT

Jerrry Engelbach lives in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, México, with his artist wife, Ann Decker. A retired jazz pianist from New York City, he plays piano now at parties and at El Naranjo Restaurante on Pátzcuaro's Plaza Grande.

He has played solo jazz concerts for four years for the Pátzcuaro Festival de Piano, and for two years for the Pátzcuaro Fiesta de Música. In 2018 he created a program of silent movies for which he arranged and played the music.

In the United States he led his own band, Weaver of Dreams, which played at all the major venues in the New York area.

 

Jerry was co-founder of the Soho Repertory Theatre in New York and its co-artistic director for many years, and in Pátzcuaro he directs plays for the Left Bank Readers Theater. He is also a life-long painter, and his work has been shown at the Ex-Colegio Jesuita in Pátzcuaro and the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo in Morelia.
