About

Jerry Engelbach is a retired graphic designer and jazz pianist. He lives in Pátzcuaro, México, with his artist wife, Ann Decker.

Originally from New York City, Jerry studied art at Cooper Union and music in the extension program at the Juilliard School. He was a freelance graphic designer for many Fortune 500 companies.

Jerry cofounded the Soho Repertory Theatre, where he was co-artistic director for 15 years. He also led his own jazz band, playing at most of the major venues in the New York area.

He was able to return to his old love of painting in Pátzcuaro, where he produced most of the works on these pages. He and his wife have both shown their art at local galleries and at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Morelia, and Jerry plays piano at parties, restaurants, and music festivals.
